Services for Hattie Dean Bertschy, 73, of Thomasville are at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, at Gatlin Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Steven O’Neal, the Rev. Mitch Clements and the Rev. Dr. Don Prevatt will officiate and interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Bertschy died Nov. 5 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Fla. Born Jan. 6, 1934, in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Willie Mae Smith Gunter. She was married for 56 years to Elmer Ernest Bertschy who survives.

Mrs. Bertschy worked for the Thomas County School System in the accounting department.

Other survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Ernest Trammell of Dixie; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Lee and Lawanda Bertschy of Thomasville; daughter and son-in-law, Dixie Bertschy-Lord and Les Lord of Havana, Fla.; sister, Dorothy Walker of Thomasville; sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and R.V. Roberds of Thomasville; grandchildren, Jessica Dean and Dan Lowry, Missy and Greg Farless, Amy and Judd Shurley, Randy and Destiny Trammell, Garrett and Jenny Bertschy, Christopher O’Neal and Aubrey Golden, Jonah O’Neal, Sara O’Neal, Chenoa Lord, Bailey Shurley, Pearcetin Trammell; great-grandchildren, Justin O’Neal, Taylor Bertschy, Emma O’Neal; and many nieces and nephews.

A son, Elmer Martin Bertschy preceded her in death.

Donations may be made to Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology, 116 Mimosa Drive, Thomasville, Ga. 31792. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel — Allen & Allen Funeral Home
