Graveside services for Elmer Ernest Bertschy, 79, of Thomasville, are at 4 p.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in Laurel Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Steven O’Neal will officiate. Mr. Bertschy passed away July 11 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. 

Born, June 20, 1931, in Bentonville, Ark., he was the son of the late Ernest and Emeline Looney Bertschy.  He was married to Hattie Dean Gunter Bertschy who preceded him in death after 56 years of marriage.

He was a retired aircraft mechanic from the United States Air Force.

Survivors include children, Deborah and Ernest Trammell of Dixie, Michael Lee and Lawanda Bertschy of Thomasville and Dixie and Les Lord of Havana, Fla.; grandchildren, Jessica Dean and Dan Lowery, Missy and Greg Farless, Amy and Judd Shurley, Randy and Destiny Trammell, Garrett and Jenny Bertschy, Christopher O’Neal and Aubrey Golden, Jonah O’Neal, Sarah and Jonathan Waller, Chenoa Lord, Bailey Shurley, Pearcetin Trammell; great-grandchildren, Justin O’Neal, Emma O’Neal, Taylor Bertschy, Hayden Bertschy and Jamie Lowery; siblings, Dale Bertschy, Gerald Bertschy, Clementine Peters, Evangeline Pierce and Jill Woods all of Bentonville, Ark., Rosemary Morris of Dallas, Texas, Caroline Compton of Austin, Texas and Grace Rydell of Lake Jackson, Texas. 

He was preceded in death by a son, Elmer Martin Bertschy; brothers, Rex Bertschy and Beryle Bertschy.
