EDDYVILLE, Ky. Athal R. Bell, 80, of Eddyville died at 12:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Caldwell County Hospital in Princeton.
He was a member of Kuttawa First Baptist Church and Joppa Masonic Lodge No. 167. He was a retired carpenter supervisor at Kentucky State Penitentiary, a former iron worker and had owned and operated Bells Bait and Tackle in Saratoga. He was a son of the late Sherman and Effie Haney Bell.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Margaret Galusha Bell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Julie Bell of Benton and James C. and Sue Bell of Princeton; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Pat Perry and Nancy and Hayden Cooper, all of Princeton; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Aldridge in 1999 and Carolyn Boaz in 2008; and four brothers, Elwood Bell, Wayne Bell, Doyle Bell and Billy Bell.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dunns Funeral Home in Eddyville with the Rev. Carl Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery in Lyon County.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday where Masonic services will be conducted at 7 p.m.
