Name: Freddie Barnes
From: Newell Mirror, Newell, Iowa
Last Sunday afternoon, May 10, 1908, the death angel invaded the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Wood Barnes, north of town, and took there from, Freddie, their little
eight months old son. The baby had been sick the past three weeks, during which
time all that medical skill, loving hearts and tender nursing could do would not
stay the unwelcome messenger death, but He that knows all things best needed
another fresh flower to deck His altar, and selected Freddie as that flower.
Date: May, 1908
Tuesday afternoon the funeral cortege left the home and wended its way to the
Cedar church where Rev. J. Iven Brown of Sac City conducted the last sad rites,
which was largely attended, after which the parting look was taken and the
little form entered the beautiful Cedar cemetery.
The bereaved parents have the profound sympathy of the entire community.
