OBITUARY
Name: Warner Pleasant Anderson

Mr. Anderson was well-known in this city, he having been a resident of this community his entire life. He was a highly respected citizen and had many friends who will be grieved to learn of his passing.
The deceased was born near McLeansboro, Illinois, July 23, 1842, and departed this life at his home in McLeansboro, Saturday, April 16, 1927, at 2:30 o'clock a.m.
Mr. Anderson was the son of Edmund and Nancy Turrentine Anderson. There were eight children in the family, namely, Permelia Mangis, John T. Anderson, James A. Anderson, Rachel Weldin, Warner P. Anderson, Claiborne W. Anderson, Robert S. Anderson, and Mary E. Anderson. His ancestors were of Scotch-Irish descent who had emigrated to Virginia and were among those who fought for American liberty in the Revolution. The patriotic traits of his ancestors were transmitted to him, and on August 13, 1862, he enlisted as a private in Company A, 87th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, of which his brother John T. was Captain. He was promoted to Third Sergeant, then to First Sergeant, afterwards to First Lieutenant on March 25, 1865, and on June 6, 1865, was commissioned as Captain, and mustered out on June 16, 1865. Mr. Anderson never held any military position except by a vote of his Company.
Mr. Anderson married Louise Sandusky, and to this union were born three children, Chester C. Anderson of McLeansboro; Mollie E. Bell of Parkville, Mo., and Nora Hemphill of Marion, Ind., all of whom survive him. He became a member of the Presbyterian Congregation in December 1883, and on June 19, 1897, was ordained as an Elder, and was always loyal to his church, and a consistent Christian.
