BICKNELL -- Ralph I. Anderson, 63, of 218 West Seventh street, Bicknell, former president of the First National Bank here, died at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Good Samaritan hospital in Vincennes where he had been taken late Tuesday.

He was born on June 20, 1895, the son of George and Altha Phillippe Anderson.  On June 20, 1922, he was married to Lillian Heidenreich, who survives.

Anderson, a life-long resident of the Bicknell community, first became associated with the First National Bank in 1918 when he was appointed assistant cashier.  Later he became cashier, and in 1952 he became president of the firm following the death of Thomas Pearce.  In 1957, he retired as bank president due to health, but continued as a member of the bank board of directors.

He was a member of the Bethel United Church of Christ having served both as a deacon and member of the church board.  He was also a veteran of World War I.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Hardesty of Flint, Mich., and Mrs. Don Kachinskas of Long Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Lee Stiles of Jellico, Tenn.; and one brother, Earl Anderson of Bicknell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Bethel United Church of Christ in Freelandville with burial in the adjoining cemetery.  Rev. Paul Lammers and Rev. F. W. Schaefer will officiate.

Friends may call at the McClure funeral home in Bicknell after 1 p.m. Friday.  The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.
