Francis D. Anderson, 78, 1316 Mentor, died at 8 a.m. Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital.

He was retired from Prestolite Battery and was a past governor of Vincennes Moose Lodge No. 281.

He was born March 1, 1913, in Knox County, the son of Oliver and Edith (Willard) Anderson.  His wife, Edna, died in 1986.

Surviving are his sons, Donald Anderson, Jack Anderson, John Anderson, all of Vincennes, Harry Anderson of Fort Wayne, and Jerald Anderson of Owensville; a daughter, Shirley Welton of Vincennes; two brothers, Ernest Anderson of Rock Ledge, Fla., Charles Anderson of Anderson; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Flummerfelt-Goodwin Funeral Home, with burial in the Memorial Park Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
