A tragic story regarding the children's deaths was printed in a Kansas paper:
" Earl Mayberry was arrested after a dynamite bomb planted under a bed in the family’s home at  Pittsburg,
Kansas, killed the two Mayberry children and seriously injured Mrs. Mayberry.  Florence, 11, and Earl, 6, met
instant death when the bomb went off.  Mayberry had sued for a divorce."

Earl was evidently never convicted and soon remarried.
