Their son, Victor, drowned when the steamer Kamloops foundered in the vicinity of Isle Royale in Lake Superior during a winter storm. The freighter had been headed for Fort William (now Thunder Bay) Ontario Canada. His was one of three bodies identified after the ship was located.
