Notes:
Robert was enrolled in the Dromara Public Elementary School on the 23rd of September 1889, at the age of 5.  Records show he was of Presbyterian denomination and his father was a farmer. He attended until he was 'struck off' in 1896 with no reason noted.

Per the Passage Manifest and Passenger Records of the Celtic, Ellis Island Foundation, New York, New York, Robert immigrated to the Unites States from Ireland in May of 1911. He was the second of the four brothers to leave Ireland for the U.S. He departed Liverpool, England on April 19, 1911 and arrived at Ellis Island on May 8, 1911.  He arrived in the United States with only $25.  His stated intention was to go to Gary, Indiana to seek work with his brother James.

He later opted not to remain in the U.S. and returned to Ireland.

Neighbor gossip was that Robert and Rebecca were "walking out."  He went to the United States and she had a child while he was gone.  He returned and at some time they eventually married and he adopted the boy.  So all assumed it was his child.  However, the child also lived in a near-by town and called a man there, dad.
