William was involved in a saloon fight and killed James Barnes in 1860. The fight was at the emporium of Frog Island near Olive Branch church in Four Mile Township. William went to his house and told Polly she should divorce him, as “they are coming for me for murder.” She did divorce him in 1862 and she later married George P. Hendershott.
