Notes:
From the Hudson-Mohawk Family Memoirs:
"Elijah, son of Captain Amos Galusha, was born in Shaftsbury, Vermont; came to
Troy, New York about 1830, and died there in 1871. He was a manufacturer
of fine furniture, for which he was noted. He continued in business in
Troy until his death.".
From Antiques and the Arts Weekly, September 1, 1995:
"Elijah moved to Troy about 1825. By 1828 he had his own shop at 307 River
Street. From the late 1830's through the early 1850's, Galusha's business grew
steadily. He had eight workers in 1840 and 15 by 1846. His 1857
credit rating noted, "Good as gold for all you can sell him." Galusha
retired from business in 1870 and died in 1871. In 1872 the firm was taken
over by J. Crawford Green and Marcus Waterman, and it continued in business
through the turn of the century."
