Cora and the children had come home to Hortonville as she was in the final stages of Tuberculosis and pregnant. The baby arrived early and died and Cora died three weeks later. After Cora died, Claud placed the children in an orphanage, remarried and remained in Michigan. Cora May died in a fire at the orphanage.
