Notes:    
Bessie and her sister and brother were actually born as Wakefields but were raised by Moses Hess and assumed that surname.  In 1920, they were living with Moses and they had the surname of Wakefield.  By 1930, they were living with Edward's sister and her husband (the children's uncle) and they had assumed the surname of Hess.

By 1930, Edward was in jail with his brother Ray.
