Nancy died about 1873 and, in 1874, John married Martha Ann (Alsup) Kirby, the widow of James Alfred Kirby, so the 1880 census reflects John and Martha and children from both of their previous marriages as well as Alonzo, their first child. They later had Monroe in 1883 and Mary in 1885.
